Beloved father, grandfather, uncle and friend passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2019. He was 71 years old. James Valentine Marzluft was born on October 9, 1947, in Saginaw, Michigan to the late George and Marguerite (Gaertner) Marzluft. He was a proud 1967 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Jim married Donna J. Reeves on May 6, 1972 in Saginaw. He was employed with General Motors as a machine operator and later a machine repairman; retiring with nearly 40 years of service. Jim was an avid outdoorsman enjoying both hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed softball, golf and most recently Wii bowling. When his children where younger, he volunteered as a Little League coach. Above all, Jim loved and cherished his children and grandchildren and enjoyed watching them participate in sports. He will forever be remembered for his fun competitive nature, great sense of humor and his selflessness to all.
Surviving are three children: James V. Marzluft, Jr. of Bridgeport; Jenifer V. Horn of Hemlock; and Jason V. (Elizabeth) Marzluft of Saginaw; five grandchildren: Seth, Aidan, and Paige Marzluft and Avery and Chet Horn; his former spouse, Donna J. (Larry) Ray of Davison; and a nephew, Richard Rant. Also surviving are many additional nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers: Mary Agnes Rant; George Marzluft; and William Marzluft.
A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2019, at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road. Pastor Gary Vanderveen will officiate. Burial will follow in Marion Township Cemetery. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Hemlock Youth Baseball & Softball.
