James C. Santino 75, of Birch Run, Michigan passed away peacefully on January 20, 2025. Jim was born in Saginaw, Michigan on March 7, 1949, the son of the late Ross A. Santino and Sarah A. (Binasio) Santino.

He graduated from St. Mary’s High School and then attended Michigan State University, where he received his Bachelor’s degree. He was united in marriage with his beloved wife Anna M. (Czerewko) Santino on February 4, 2000. She preceded him in death on May 14, 2021. He worked for General Motors Delphi Chassis retiring after 30 years.

Jim had a deep appreciation for the local music and arts scene in Saginaw and its neighboring areas. He cherished the moments spent with his beloved wife, Anna, and his many friends at local concerts and art festivals. A passionate drummer, he often joined friends' bands for jam sessions at various venues, showcasing his skills on the Cajon (box drum). An avid sports fan, Jim was an ardent supporter of the athletic programs of his alma mater, Michigan State University. He enjoyed running, working out, and playing racquetball, earning a reputation for winning multiple state-level racquetball championships throughout the years. Additionally, he was an avid reader and possessed unique talent for writing.

In addition to music, the arts and sports Jim found joy in gardening and yard work, where he felt a sense of tranquility and a bond with nature. Throughout his life, he had many special canine companions. Almost anywhere Jim and Anna ventured, you would likely find his devoted companion, Sola, by their side. He shared a unique connection with Sola, his loyal white German Shepherd whom he rescued.

Jim is survived by step daughter, Leah (Aaron) Silver of Florida and step son, Anthony (Rachel) Lagalo of California; one granddaughter, Jaiden Marie Silver; brothers and sisters in laws, Walter Czerewko, Stella Czerewko, Roxolanna (Bohdan Berezanky) Czerewko, Fred Czerewko (Joe Biskner), Luba (Scott) Moritz; the Peter J.W. McManus family of Saginaw; and the many nieces,nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and friends.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 3:00p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 27, 2025, at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603.

Cremation will follow and a private family burial will be held at a later date.
