James W. Harris

James W. Harris Hemlock, Michigan Passed away very peacefully, Tuesday, June 12, 2018, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, with his wife and family by his side. Age 79 years. The son of the late Mildred (Fitting) and Wilbur Harris was born May 11, 1939 in Hemlock, Michigan. He married Sondra Trudgen, July 30, 1960. She survives him. Jim retired from A.T. Ferrell in Saginaw. He then began working for Saginaw Control and Engineering as a truck driver, retiring in 2004. Jims most enjoyable work experience was with Kenny Brothers Farms, He loved the work, his bosses, their wives and families and the wonderful office girls. He enjoyed NASCAR and loved John Deere Tractors and farming. Mr. and Mrs. Harris were blessed with wonderful friends, neighbors and relatives throughout their life. In the 1980s their childrens classmates became their own kids, then and presently. Surviving besides his wife, Sondra, are three children: Scott Harris; Shelly and Jim Gagliardi; Steven Harris; three grandchildren: Matt Harris; Marsha Findlay; Amber and Gary Burton; six great grandchildren: Dominic, Bethanie and Jayden Harris; Dray Findlay; Harlie and Hazel Burton; a brother-in-law and his wife, Roger and Carolyn Trudgen; a sister-in-law, Trudi Trudgen; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and his beloved cats, Kiddy and Puffy. He was predeceased by two brothers, David and Doug Harris. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will be held at Apple Mountain Club House, 4519 N. River Rd. Freeland, MI. on Sunday, July 15, 2018 from Noon until 2:00 p.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Richland Township Fire and Rescue Dept. or the charity of their choice. Mr. Harris family wish to thank the Richland Township Fire and Rescue, MMR, the staff and caregivers and especially the 3rd Floor nurses at Covenant-Mackinaw, Dr. Binu Malhotra and her team, and to all the doctors, nurses and assistants at Covenant Cooper and Harrison for the great care given.
