James "Jim" William Harrington of Fosters, Michigan
Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper. He was 91 years old. James William Harrington was born on November 15, 1929, in Hale, Michigan, to the late James William and Olive (Sova) Harrington Sr. He married the love of his life, Ernestine Thompson, on October 21, 1950, in Saginaw, Michigan; she survives him. He began his career as a truck driver for Davis Cartage and later was employed as a heavy equipment operator for 25 years with Holly Sand & Gravel. Jim was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying traveling up state to the U.P. Hunting and fishing. Above all, he loved and cherished his family. He will forever be remembered for his excellent sense of humor and the nicknames he gave to all he loved.
Surviving are his wife of 71 years, Ernestine Harrington of Fosters; three sons and a daughter: James (Kathee) Harrington of Saginaw; Rick (Debbie) Harrington of Burt; Wayne Harrington of Saginaw; Nancy Harrington of Harrison; 22 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are many extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a son and daughter, Jack Harrington and Vickie Corbin; infant brother, Jack Harrington.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. November 17, 2021, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie Highway. His son, Pastor James Harrington will officiate. Cremation will follow services. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service.
