Janis Hope Cotie Bay City, MI formerly of Saginaw "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." Our beloved mother, grandmother, "GG", sister, and friend went home to be with her Lord on Friday, July 3, 2015. Janis was born January 2, 1932, in Willoughby, Ohio to the late Howard and Ruth (Johnson) Gawne. Janis married William S. Cotie on April 24, 1954; he predeceased her July 30, 1979. She worked for Sunshine Biscuit until her first child was born. She then devoted her life to her husband and children. When the children attended school full time she went to work for Saginaw Processing and Supply Company until her retirement in 1980. She loved spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She had a true servant's heart and was very active in her church. She is survived by her children, Kathleen (Richard) LaPlant, William (Naomi Schroeder) Cotie, Julie (Thomas) Westphal, Michael Cotie, and Tamara (John) Wendling; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and 2 more on the way; her siblings, Karl Gawne, Roger Gawne, and Victoria Lauer; many nieces and nephews; and close life-long friend Lila Milbrandt. She was predeceased by her grandsons, Matthew and John. The family would like to thank the staff of Bay Medical Care Facility for the extraordinary end of life care they provided to Janis.
