Kotcher, Jay W. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the age of 90 years. Jay was born on October 6, 1926 in Saginaw to the late Jay and Florence (Kroll) Kotcher. He married Phyllis Warner on March 25, 1950; she predeceased him on January 15, 2013. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and was stationed in the Asiatic Theatre. Jay retired from U.S. Graphite after 33 years of service. He attended Faith Lutheran Evangelical Church. Jay was an active member of V.F.W. Post # 9809, where he served as Post Commander from 1993-1997 and was District Commander from 1997-1999. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing softball in Midland, golfing, and bowling. Surviving are his children: Candace Kotcher, Jody (Randy) Duve, and Scott (Dawn) Kotcher, three grandchildren: Danielle, Eli, and Erek; his brother: William (Viola) Kotcher, brother-in-law Richard Tamm, sister-in-law Eunice Kotcher and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides his parents and his wife, Phyllis, he was predeceased by his son, Jay Kotcher, daughter-in-law Diane Crook, grandson Kyle Duve, his sister Colleen Tamm and brother Robert Kotcher. Funeral service will take place at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. with military burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Avielle Haven in Midland.
