Jean (Booth) Grills Fassezke: 85 years passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, July 8, 2016. Jean was born to Ethel and Francis C. Booth on March 12, 1931 in Flint Ml. She lived her childhood with the nickname of "Scottie", she was very proud of her Scottish heritage and the Stewart/Ross Clan. Jean graduated from Flint Bendle High School-and went on to graduate from Flint Junior College with a degree in business. She worked for Michigan Bell for more than 28 years. She married Robert J. Grills in 1954 and moved to Grand Blanc, They had 4 children and were married for 12 years. Jean taught audio/visual arts at Grand Blanc High School. She was active in Warwick Country Club and The Junior Women's Mother and Daughter Club. She taught Sunday school at Flint First Presbyterian Church. In 1977 Jean moved to Saginaw and married her beloved husband Don Fassezke. They enjoyed their later years in their community of Au Gres. Jean, "Grandma Fuzz," was devoted to her grandchildren, she always threw the best celebrations, loved a good game of bridge, was active in The Red Hat Society, was a member of Michigan Bell Pioneers and very active at St. Paul's Lutheran Church where she was Fellowship Chairman for years. Jean leaves behind her daughter Laura (Peter) Giannone, her sons Robert Grills Jr. and James F. (Linda) Grills. Her stepchildren, Michael (Kellie) Fassezke, Kathy (Tony) Grasel and David (Shelley) Fassezke. Her grandchildren, Patrick, James (Teagan) and Margaret Jean O'Connor, Jessica and Ali Grasel, Mallorie, Riley, Brianna, Olivia, Ethan and Tyler Fassezke. Her nieces Susan and Sally Hoyt, nephews David, Scott (Mary) and Jeff (Pat) Hoyt, her brother-in-law Earnest Hoyt, several grand nieces and nephews and her dear, dear friends. Jean was predeceased by her husband Donald Fassezke, her daughter Linda Jo Grills and her sister Mary Jo Hoyt. A memorial service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave. Rev. Paul Hinz will officiate. Friends may visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. on Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Peace Lutheran Church.
