Guilford, Jean Marie Hemlock, Michigan
Died Friday, February 7, 2020 at St. Marys Hospital. At the age of 74 years. Daughter of the late Edwin H. and Ruth H. (Beamish) Goodman, Jean was born on October 19, 1945 in Midland. Jean was a graduate of Hemlock High School and received a secretarial certificate from Northwood Institute. She was employed by The Dow Chemical Company working in the Auditing Department for over 22 years. On January 24, 1976, Jean married William R. Guilford who survives her. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and counted cross-stitching along with attending Michigan State football and basketball games with her husband. Jean was an active, life-long member of Nelson United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, Jean is survived by her sisters Helen Caruso and Karen (David) Glover; Finnish exchange student sister Soile (Pekka) Rahkola; nephews and nieces Anthony Caruso, Marc (Sunni) Caruso and their children Nicholas, Charlotte and Mia, Valerie (Derek) Bellow and their daughter Reagan and son Vincent; Sarah Glover and Amy (Anthony) DiGangi, Roger (Andrea) Beagle and sons Thomas and Travis; and Nancy Beagle; brother-in-law William Fenton; step-nephews, Thomas (Andrea) Fenton and their children Tom and Chelsea; and William Fenton and daughter Lillian (Luke) Chikas and son Lincoln, and many cousins. In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by her brother-in-law Vincent Caruso, her sister-in-law Joan (Guilford) Fenton, brother-in-law George Guilford and a niece, Ellen Beagle.
A sincere thank you to the staff of St. Marys Hospital, Dr. Asma Taj and her office supervisor Angelina Porras and the entire nursing staff of the short-stay unit at St. Marys Town Centre for their loving care given to Jean.
Funeral service will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Nelson United Methodist Church, 5950 S. Hemlock Road, Hemlock. Rev. Rob Richards will officiate with burial to follow in Fremont Township Cemetery. Friends may visit the family from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 9, 2020 at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, Saginaw. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Nelson United Methodist Church, the American Cancer Society or charity of their choice.
