Shimonek, Jeannette M. Saginaw, Michigan My obituary first person through the eyes of my grandson: I was an immigrant daughter of immigrant farmers, a Canadian and an American. I was child 19 and the baby of my flock. I was a housewife, a mother, and grandmother. I was loved and cared for; I was a realist. I was a caregiver to him who cared for me, my husband Bernie, rest his beleaguered soul. I braved the loneliness and the cold, and I raised 3 loving daughters while my husband braved the Northwestern Arctic. I was an American and welcomed my fourth daughter as one too. I was a loud good time. I was a provider of quarters for the pinball machine. I was a cook of the best damn sweet and sour ribs you'll ever eat. I was short, but I was heard. I wasn't rich but wealthy in affairs of the heart. I was a wife, a mother, a grandmother.... your eldest and loving grandson, Paul. Surviving are four daughters; Grace and Tom Thornton of Hemlock, MI; Sharon Donoghue and her fianc Mike Brown of Midland, MI; Brenda Erwin, Flint, MI; Audrey and Frank Torka, Linwood, MI; eight grandchildren; Paul (Jennifer) Thornton, Adam, Jessica (fianc Frankie), and Courtney Thornton; Justin and Molly Donoghue; Gary and Dustin Erwin; four great-grandchildren Austyn, Greysen, Brinley, and Diesel, her sister, Rae, Therese and brother Lionel and many nieces and nephews. Jeannette was predeceased by her husband, Bernard, her father and mother, Zenon and Ore'clide (Trudell) Berard, 10 sisters and 6 brothers, and son-in-law Daniel Donoghue.
