Jeffrey "Jeff" Stephen LaPorte of Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, February 28, 2023. He was 61 years old. Jeffrey Stephen LaPorte was born on November 17, 1961, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Edward and Bonnie (Bell) Laporte. He was a proud 1980 graduate of Hemlock High School, it was here he met the love of his life, Julie Ann Frost. They dated, fell in love, and were united in marriage on May 9, 1981; she survives him. He was employed for 25 years as a machinist at the former Unique Instruments, now known as Orchid Unique. As a young man, Jeff enjoyed the outdoors: hunting, boating, and snowmobiling. Jeff, also jokingly known as Fred, sometimes had a tough and rugged façade, but inside was a heart of gold. He selflessly showed his love by doing things for family and friends. After leaving the manufacturing world, Jeff began snow plowing driveways. What started out as something small for family and friends, turned into sometimes a 12-hour workday. Above all, he treasured and cherished his family, especially his wife, daughters, and grandchildren. Jeff also held a special place in his heart for animals, especially his two dogs: Penny and Reece.

Surviving are his wife of 41 years, Julie Ann LaPorte of Saginaw; two daughters: Carrie (Richard) Blohm of Saginaw; Amanda (Chris) Simon of Saginaw; four grandchildren: Dylan (Shara) Kime; Bailey Kime; Ethen Kime; and Ariah Simon; siblings: Shirley (Dean) Ulman of Tawas; Shelly (Robert) Losch of Orlando, FL; Sherry (Douglas) Lange of Lupton; Stephanie (Mahar) Alsalah of Dearborn; sister-in-law, Terri LaPorte of Pinconning; and mother-in-law, Beverly Lowrey of Saginaw.

Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Bonnie LaPorte; two brother Jon LaPorte Sr. and Edward J. LaPorte III; father-in-law, Duane Frost.

Honoring Jeff’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 18, 2023, at VFW Post 7302, 17595 Gratiot Rd, Hemlock, MI. Raymond Lee Morgan Hill will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
