Jeremy Thomas Matula

Our very much loved son, brother, uncle, nephew, and crazy friend passed into eternity and went to his Heavenly Home with God on Friday, February 10, 2023 where Jesus, his grandparents, uncles and extended family welcomed him.

Jeremy was born December 20, 1978, to Thomas and Gloria “Jean” Matula and his big sister, Heather.  He was adored by his family.  Jeremy graduated from Swan Valley High School, the class of 1997 and attended Saginaw Valley State University.  In his younger years, he played soccer and baseball.  Jeremy caught the winning out to lead his Tuffy Muffler Teeball team to a three-way championship tie.  This was before the participation trophy era when we kept score.  In high school he played football.  He was employed as a customer service representative at AT&T, where his potluck dishes were legendary.  He could sell DSL on a takeover.  He later worked at Jack’s Fruit and Meat Market, Home Depot, and most recently at Napa Auto Parts.

Jeremy loved the outdoors: hunting, fishing, morel mushroom foraging- he loved it all!  He also collected Jeeps and was a founding member of the Jeep Freakz, a Jeep enthusiast club.  He will now be looking over Silver Lake Sand Dunes from Heaven, protecting all those who ride there.  Driving the dunes at Silver Lake was a favorite pastime for Jeremy, as was camping with his cousin Derrick.

Jeremy also suffered greatly from the curse of alcoholism.  Its effects had profound affects on his life, relationships, and family.  His family encourages anyone else who also suffers from this dreaded curse to never give up and seek help.

Jeremy leaves behind his parents, Tom and Jean Matula, loving sister and brother-in-law Heather J. and Patrick M. Farr, his children: Emilie, Barrett, Isabella and Brock whom he missed every day of his life, his nephew Jacob Farr, niece, Natalie Farr, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.  He was predeceased by his grandparents Richard and Ruby Anna Marie (Abrahamson) Meyer, and John and Betty J. (Svrcina) Matula.

Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Glory House International Ministries, 3660 Hermansau Rd., Saginaw.  Pastor James House and Pastor Ricard Sayad will officiate with burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Friday, February 17, 2023 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd.  from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-9:00 p.m. Then again on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at the church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the family in care of Heather Farr as they wish to establish a memorial charity in Jeremy’s name.
