Jesse M. Vela

Vela, Jesse M. Burt, Michigan Our beloved father, grandfather and brother passed away suddenly following a brief illness on Friday, July 17, 2015, age 78 years. Jesse was born September 26, 1936 in Mission, Texas, son of the late Jose and Angelita (Limon) Vela. He retired from General Motors after many years of service. He was well loved by all and never met a stranger. He enjoyed playing pool, auto trading, listening to country music, swimming, camping and spending time with his family. Surviving are his children, Bill (Wendy) Vela, Roy Vela, Deborah Poag, Kelly Wasmiller, Angel Vela, Elizabeth Vela, Steve (Dee) Vela and Linda Vela; 13 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; his siblings, Roberto (Lucy) Vela, Eva (Roberto) Quintanilla, Esther Garcia, Rey (Lupe) Vela, Lupe (Valde) Molina, Mary Ellen Vela and Jose M. Vela, Jr.; also many other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, Jesse was predeceased by one grandson, Timothy Jesse Wolfgang, his brother, Gilbert Vela and his sister, Beatrice Bustamante. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2015 at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Horace Curry will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at the funeral home from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
