Jill Marie Shye (Thomas)

Beloved mother, daughter, sister, and aunt passed away unexpectedly in her home in Saginaw on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the age of 57. Jill was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on January 6, 1967, to Gertrude (Zaremba) Thomas and the late Edward Thomas, and was a 1985 graduate of Frankenmuth High School. She continued her education by earning a bachelor’s degree in social work, spending her years serving her community as a social worker.  Jill’s most important role in life would come as the full-time mom to her amazing children who were her greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. She spent many years volunteering through the Carrollton school system and was always a friendly face at her kids’ many sporting events and activities. In her free time, Jill loved to read, especially anything scary or by Stephen King, and binge-watch Judge Judy and CSI. She is remembered as being a funny and loving woman with a touch of sarcasm who wanted nothing more than for her family to be happy. She will be greatly missed.

Jill is survived by her beloved children Madison Shye, Meghan Shye, and Austin Shye; mother Gertrude Thomas; sisters Mary Jo (Scott) Mayes and Julie (Matt) Lotterman; and nephews Ben Mayes and Josh Mayes; as well as many other nieces, nephews, family members, friends, and her beloved animal companions Kiki and Sophie.

A funeral service for Jill will be held at 4:00pm on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at W.L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Visitation will take place from 1:00pm until the time of service, with cremation to follow.
