Jimmie W. Cooper

Jimmie W. Cooper Frankenmuth, Michigan Passed away peacefully January 24, 2014, at his home. Age 90 years. Jimmie was born August 30, 1923 in Etowah County, Alabama, the son of the late Ezra and Nannie Pearl (Tillery) Cooper. He married Jessie Marie Wright, who predeceased him in 1961. He married Betty Jean Paulus, October 3, 1964. She passed away January 7, 2014. He served with the U.S. Navy during WWII, serving on the USS Marsh (DE-699) a Buckley class Destroyer Escort. He was a member of the Frankenmuth Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #2725; the Frankenmuth American Legion Post #150. Jimmie retired from Wickes Corporation and was a longtime member of Michigan Ave. Baptist Church. He loved his Lord God as his savior. Jimmie's passion for his multiple gardens gave him years and years of enjoyment. He blessed so many people by giving his harvest of vegetables, flowers, particularly gladiolas, peaches, apples, pears and anything he was growing to everyone he knew. Surviving are a son, James Cooper, grandchildren, Audrey and Zac Cooper; special nieces, Shelly Paulus-Sprygada and Kathy Paulus-Riccardi; special nephew, chauffer and Burger King buddy, Jason Cousins; special caregiver and co-adventurer, Greg Riccardi; many other nieces, nephews and their children both in Michigan and Alabama; his very special loving and caring neighbors. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Mary Elizabeth Cooper, his daughter-in-law, Elaine Cooper; his brother, sister and their spouses, Gerald and Mary Dell Cooper, Mable and John Owens. The funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Saginaw. Chaplain Fred Hart will officiate with Military Honors under the auspices of V.F.W. Post #1859. Private burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Gardens at a later date. Friends may call at the Chapel from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Thursday and from 3:00-7:00 p.m. Friday and on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service.
