Joan Carol Kretchman

Joan Carol Kretchman (Hawkins) Saginaw, Michigan "this life I live I've loved and lost I've laughed and cried And when I leave this life I've Lived I'll smile and know I wouldn't have changed a thing" Joan passed away Sunday, March 20, 2016, at the Cartwright Residence. Age 83 years. The daughter of the late Walter and Leona Maxson was born February 22, 1933 in Essexville, Michigan. She graduated from Bay City Central High School and then from Central Michigan University with a Teaching degree. She had a long teaching career with Shepherd Public Schools, Arlington Public Schools in Texas and Alma Public Schools from where she retired. Joan had many interests and passions in life such as painting, gardening, traveling and her Corvette. She had a deep respect and love of nature and animals. Joan married Charles Hawkins from Shepherd and together they had two children. He passed away. Later she married Bob Kretchman in 2003. He survives her. Together they resided in Saginaw Township. Surviving besides her husband, Robert, are her children and their spouses, Deborah (Ronald) Schmidt, Hawaii; Craig (Kathy) Hawkins, Midland, MI; A grandson, Ian Hawkins, Ann Arbor, MI; a brother, Fred (Mary ) Maxson, Bay City, MI; her nieces, Dana and nephew, Walter; her step-children, James (Susan) Kretchman; Paul Kretchman; John (Tennille)Kretchman; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren and her beloved dog, Rudy. Besides her husband, Charles, and her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter-in-law, Julie Kretchman. In accordance with Mrs. Kretchman's wishes, cremation has taken place. No services are planned.
