Joan Marie Fairchild

Fairchild, Joan Marie Bridgeport, Michigan Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 at the University of Michigan Hospital at the age of 80 years. The daughter of the late Al Sersen and Doris (Barnes) Smith was born on June 1, 1935 in Minneapolis, MN. She married Ross J. Fairchild on June 13, 1953; he survives her. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church and the Herb Society of America, Frankenmuth Mid-Michigan Unit. Joan also enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking, gardening and traveling with family and friends. She always was brightening up someone's day with a card or small gift. Surviving besides her husband of 62 years, Ross are their children: Doug (Cathy) Fairchild, Gil (Coline) Fairchild, Rich (Kim) Fairchild, Jan (Mike) Bolinger, Phil (Kim) Fairchild; 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, many relatives and dear friends. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 25, 2015 at St. John's Episcopal Church, 123 N. Michigan. The Rev. Daniel Cannon and The Rev. Pamela Renna will officiate with cremation to follow. Friends may visit with the family on Friday at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 5700 Dixie HWY from 1:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
