JoAnn Day

JoAnn Noreen Day age 94, passed away at Shields Comfort Care to her heavenly home on July 18, 2019. She was born in Fairgrove, Michigan, April 24, 1925. JoAnn was best known as Frank or Grandma Frank to family and friends. She and her husband Homer D. Day celebrated their 76th anniversary on March 7, 2019, before he passed away on April 1, 2019. JoAnn worked as a stress technician at Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital and retired July 31, 1995, after 21 years of service. She was a member of the Swan Valley United Methodist church and served several years on the Pastor Parish committee. She and her husband also were active in the Senior Citizen meetings and luncheons held monthly at the Thomas Township Public Safety Building, where she was the president until her health failed. JoAnn is preceded in death by her husband, Homer (Skinny) Day, her eldest son Donald, and son-in-law Gary (Bink) Hoffman. She is survived by her son Harold (Susan) Day, daughters Dawn (Dale) Orr and Nancy Hoffman; 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grand children and 1 great-great grandson. A celebration of life service will be for both JoAnn and Homer on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, at 11:00 am, at the Swan Valley United Methodist Church, located at 9265 Geddes Road, in Shields. A luncheon will be served immediately after the service. The Day family appreciates and thanks the staff at Shields Comfort Care for their many hours of help and care given to our parents while they were in residence. We also thank the staff from Hospice that cared for our mother in her last days; to keep her as comfortable as possible. In lieu of flowers the family wishes that any monetary offerings go to the Swan Valley United Methodist Church, The American Cancer Society, Veterans of Foreign wars, or a charity of our choice.
