Devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.... but - most important - a child of God by His grace, and an heir of everlasting life in heaven through faith in Christ, her Savior.....was called by the LORD to heaven on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at the age of 92 years after a brief stay at Covenant Medical Center - Cooper in Saginaw.
She was born in Saginaw on September 6, 1931 to Henry C. Laatsch and LaVera M. (nee Wenzel) Laatsch. She was preceded in death by both of her parents. She grew up on a farm on the east side of Saginaw. A 1949 graduate of Saginaw High School, she married Wilbur G. Huebner on September 16, 1950. They were married for 53 years before he went to heaven on September 23, 2003. They raised two children, Charles (Debra) Huebner of Springdale, Arkansas, and Susan (Ryan) Bauer of Saginaw. She was blessed with four grandchildren: Christopher Huebner and Timothy (Marisol) Huebner, both of Springdale, Arkansas; as well as Sarah Bauer and Austin Bauer, both of Saginaw. Joanne had two great-granddaughters: Kyla Huebner and Sadie Huebner, both of Springdale, Arkansas. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Ralph (Dorothy) Laatsch. She is survived by one brother, Kenneth (Joyce) Laatsch of Saginaw. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and their families.
Besides being a homemaker, Joanne worked before her children were born at Woolworth’s in downtown Saginaw. Once her children grew sufficiently, she returned to the workforce as a cook and school kitchen manager in the Saginaw Township Public School system. She retired in 1996.
For over 75 years Joanne was a faithful member and generous volunteer, serving in a wide range of capacities, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, on Court and Bond in Saginaw.
A worship service thanking God for her faith, her place in heaven, and how He used her life to serve Him and others, will be held at 12:00 Noon at St. Paul Lutheran Church on Court and Bond Sts. Rev. David Naumann will officiate with interment at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family on Friday at church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
