Gardner, Joe Harris, M.D. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 at Hoyt Nursing Home at the age of 101 years. He was born November 27, 1911 in Lansing, Michigan, the son of the late Harry E. and Lulu (Harris) Gardner. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree at Michigan State University and later graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School. He served with the U. S. Army during WWII as a casualty surgeon, stationed in southern France and Italy. Upon his return, he became an associate of Dr. Frederick Cole in Detroit. He married Rosanne Seifris May 1, 1948; she predeceased him September 11, 1998. They moved to Saginaw where he practiced as a surgeon for 40 years. He was a member of First Congregational Church, the Saginaw County Medical Society, and a past member of the Bay City Country Club, the Germania of Saginaw and the Saginaw Club. Surviving are two sons, two daughters and their spouses, Frederick C. and Anne Gardner, Nancy and Dr. L. W. Sarosi, Kathleen and Tim Girard, all of Saginaw; Dr. Richard J. and Joann Gardner, Ann Arbor, Michigan; seven grandchildren, Joseph (Kim) Gardner, Amy (William) Trainor, Sarah (Michael) Finnane, John Sarosi, Alexander, Joshua and Lauren Gardner; three great-grandchildren, Cael, Wren and Bennett. Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 28, 2013 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Dr. Charles Guerreno will officiate with military burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call chapel from 10:00 a.m. Friday until time of service.
