Passed away Monday, November 27, 2017, at his home following a lengthy illness. Age 91 years. John was born June 30, 1926, the son of the late John Arthur and Stella (Dougherty) Fleming in Mount Haley Township, Midland County, Michigan. John married Donna Desonia, July 19, 1949. She passed away April 30, 1964. He then married Delores Wolfram, November 21, 1964. She passed away November 9, 1998. Later he married Joan Rivard, March 11, 2000. She passed away February 10, 2016. John engaged in farming and drove fuel truck for many years. He was a member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Patrick Church and a 4th Degree member of Knights of Columbus Assembly #2049 and a member of the Knights Council #2291. Surviving are seven children and their spouses, John and Debbie Fleming; Patricia and Joseph Preston; Pamela Corey; Nancy Fleming; Mary Fleming; Robert Fleming; Sara Fleming; seven grandchildren, Norris Fleming; Franciene and Dennis Hignite; Justin Fleming; Michele Fleming; Sandi Fleming; Jamee Preston; Jonathan Corey; his great grandchildren, Jessica, Samantha, Maxwell; Annabella; Kaylee, Cameron, Joseph; Justin Jr.; Jacob, Brittney, Jessica, Justin, Olivia, Elizabeth, Lily and Scarlett; his great-great grandson, Xavier; two sisters, Doreen and Thomas Engle; Joan Poyer; five step-children; several step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson, Shay Preston, a great grandson, Andrew Hignite; a son-in-law, Jud Corey, and eleven brothers and sisters. The funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2017, at St. John XXIII, St. Patricks Church. Rev. T. J. Fleming will officiate with burial in St. Patricks Cemetery. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel in Merrill from 2:00-9:00 p.m. Thursday where the Parish Vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. followed by the Knights of Columbus Council #2291 Rosary. Friends may also call at the church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Heartland Hospice, the Alzheimers Association or the Jonesfield-Lakefield Fire and Rescue Unit.
