Passed away Friday, October 28, 2022. Age 90 years.
John was born December 3, 1931, son of the late Roy and Ruth (Wacker) Taylor, in Saginaw. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School, Class of 1950 and was a member of the football team. John was very proud that he had scored the very first point in Arthur Hill Memorial Stadium. John went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and later became a founding member of the First Corp of Gettysburg. He retired from Michigan Bell after 35 years of dedicated service. John enjoyed the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing or even searching for old lumberman’s logs from the Saginaw River. The Saginaw Castle Museum currently has one of his finds on display. John was an avid coin collector, a man of faith and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church. He was generous and thoughtful throughout the years. Despite his declining health, John maintained a positive outlook and never complained.
Surviving are his sons, Matthew (Lisa) Taylor and Scott Taylor; cousins, Sue (Howard) Bank and Carol (Pat) McKee; many special second cousins; special friends, Phil and Judy Walker and Kerrie Blackney. John was predeceased by his wives, Elizabeth “Sue” Taylor and Wanda Taylor, his son, John Taylor, his loving companion, Jackie Blackney and cousins, Sally (Jack) Maine, Marion (John) Ozerites and Jim (Judy) Wacker. The family would like to extend their appreciation to Westcourt, Homestead and American Hospice for their exceptional love and care for John.
Funeral service will take place at 12:00 Noon, on Saturday, November 5, 2022, at W. L. Case and Company, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. William Hessler will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be conducted under the Auspices of the United States Army. Friends may visit with the family Saturday at the chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
