Richnak, John F. Merrill, Michigan Loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 at the age of 91 years. He was born January 28, 1924 in Wheeler to the late Frank and Magdalena (Zigo) Richnak. Mr. Richnak served as an Army Corporal in the 246th Combat Engineer Battalion from 1943 1945 fighting in five European theatre campaigns including Normandy, Rhineland, Ardennes, Northern France and Central Europe, receiving numerous medals and badges for his service to his country. He married Margaret Alice Dougherty on October 2, 1948; she predeceased him October 1, 2015. He owned and operated his own farm and also retired from Dow Chemical as a millwright in 1982 after 40 years of service. Mr. Richnak was a member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Patrick Catholic Church in Ryan. He was an accomplished hunter, fisherman and gardener. Surviving are his children, Dennis (Connie) Richnak, Al (Mary) Richnak, Tim (Debbie) Richnak, Kathleen Sue (Robert) Cox, Colleen (Dave) McCluskey, Maureen Richnak (Larry Singer), Patty (Stan) Snyder; 16 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and his sister-in-law, Catherine Richnak. He was predeceased by his brother, Edward, his sister, Ann, and a grandson, Jared. Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4708 Meridian Rd., Ryan. Rev. Fr. Dennis Kucharczyk will officiate with burial in St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, Merrill, from 3:00 9:00 p.m. Monday where a vigil service will take place at 7:00 p.m. They may then call at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral liturgy.
