John J. Benway

Benway, John J. Saginaw, MI Our beloved, father and grandfather passed away Friday, August 30, 2013, at St. Mary's of Michigan at the age of 86. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and the Korean War receiving two purple hearts. He retired from General Motors Malleable Iron. He loved hunting and fishing. He is survived by his daughter, Gloria (Stephen) Brinck; step-son, Dennis Jones; grandchildren, Courtney (David) Huyck, Misty Daniels, James Blaylock, Kurt Jones, and Nicholas Benway; great-granddaughter, Julianna Huyck; siblings, Donna (Robert) Falk and James Jasinski; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his wife Peggy (Elliott) Benway; his children, Joseph Benway and Cathy Blaylock; twin sister, Alice and sister Leona. Funeral services will take place at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, September 5, 2013, at W.L. Case & Company 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Military Honors will be under the auspices of VFW Post #1859 of Carrollton. Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 noon until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Habitat for Humanity.
