John Lawrence Byerley Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Sunday, November 18, 2018, at Covenant Cooper. Age 86 years. The son of the late Marion (VanRiper) and John Byerley was born April 11, 1932, in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Mary Donovan, January 16, 1965. She survives him. John served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He attended Hopevale Church. He was employed by General Motors, Saginaw Steering Gear, retiring with over 39 years of service. He was a member of the Saginaw Lodge #79 F & AM, the Elf Khurafeh Shrine, and the Field and Stream Club. He enjoyed bowling, golfing and biking. Surviving besides his wife of 53 years, Mary, are six children and their spouses, Mona and Mark Cramer; Mark Bohl; Marcia and Bob Becker; Malinda and John Allen; Shawn Hatch; Rebecca Bowman; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Frederick and Eleanor Byerley; several nieces, nephews and many friends. He was also predeceased by a great grandson, Robert Welch III. Cremation has taken place. A Memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at the W. L. Case and Co. 201 N. Miller Rd. Friends may call at the Chapel from 10:00 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the memorial service. A Masonic Memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday under the auspices of Saginaw Pioneer #79 F &AM. Military honors will be under the auspices of V.F.W. Post # 1859.
