John Pearce

Saginaw, Michigan

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend John Pearce passed away November 3, 2023, at the age of 69 years.

The son of the late Ronald and Rooney/Carroll (Noxon) Pearce, John Pearce was born on December 8, 1953, in Lansing, Michigan. He graduated from Holt High School, Class of 1972. He was a Ferris State alumnus, graduating in 1978 where he met his wife Suz. John married Suzanne Hoos on August 7, 1982, Montague. John was a printer and worked at many shops in Michigan and Indiana. He retired from Pendell Printing in Midland after 25 years of service.

Anyone who ever visited John and Suzanne’s house knew it was a place of warmth and love. Guests would be greeted by the comforting smell of a fresh pot of coffee, the low tunes of John’s latest musical find, and a kitchen full of homemade eats and treats. Suz was always prepared with baked goods and John an enticing story. After a visit, you’d part ways with a full heart, a satisfied stomach, and a jar of honey.

John was an avid motorcycle enthusiast, owning many vintage bikes over the course of his lifetime. A skilled mechanic, specializing in Desmodromic Theory, you’d often find John tinkering with one of his bikes long after he was able to ride, a past time and passion he shared with his son, Eric.

Family and friends would surely describe John as a hobbyist. Even from a young age, he was always working on a project. In his adult years, he became a beekeeper, tending to a small hive and harvesting honey every season for all to enjoy.

John was a keen traveler visiting countless national and state parks. He enjoyed spending time in nature, camping with his friends and family. If the sun was shining, it was a good day for a drive. John would often take advantage by heading to the west side of the state to visit his sister and brother-in-law in Onekama and family in Montague. He’d even drive as far as Colorado, seeking adventure with his daughter Meg and his grandchildren.

Above all else, John’s greatest love was for his family. Surviving him are his wife, Suzanne; his children, Megan Pearce (Steve DeGrush) and Eric (Katie Bell) Pearce; his grandchildren, Ainsley and Isaac Devenny and Evelyn Pearce, and his sister Jane Pearce (Doug Cermak). He’s also survived by mother-in-law, Eileen Hoos; sisters-in-law, Kathleen (Mike) Freeman, Nancy Hoos (John Kough), Janet (Gary) Graham, Mary (Craig) Hefner, Laura Knop, Martha Hoos, Dana Hoos, many cousins, nieces, and nephews. John was preceded in death by his parents, Ron and Rooney, father-in-law, Richard Hoos and brothers-in-law, James and John Hoos.

John was a kind-hearted man, who was a friend to all. He enhanced our lives with his laughter and music. Those who were loved by him knew, and those that love him will miss him greatly.
