Long, John A. "Jack" Saginaw, MI Passed away Friday October 31, 2014 at Covenant Healthcare, age 87 years. John was born in Carrollton, Michigan May 13, 1927 the son of the late John J. and Clara (Pytlewski) Long. He married Caroline H. Faust October 12, 1946. She predeceased him February 7, 2012. John was a member of the Carrolton-Zilwaukee Eagles Club and American Legion Post No. 439. He served in the United States Army and the United States Army Air Corps during World War II. He and Caroline spent many summers with family and friends on Wixom Lake in Edenville. He loved watching the Tigers play, visiting with family and friends and taking day trips with his son, David, to Mt. Pleasant. John is survived by three sons, Dennis (Judy) Long, David Long and Dale Long and his special friend, Dianne Keyser; four granddaughters; one great-grandson; three siblings, Charles Long, Nancy Seplevedo and Pat (Roy) Shawl. In addition to his wife, John was predeceased by two sisters, Kate Bourdon and Joyce Long and a brother, Daniel Long. The funeral service will take place 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at W. L. Case & Company, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Fr. Thai Nguyen will officiate with burial in Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan at 1:30 p.m. Friends may visit with the family at the chapel Tuesday from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until time of the service.
