John "Jack" Henry Bigelow

Bigelow, John Henry "Jack" Merrill, MI Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather and brother passed away Friday, September 26, 2014 at St. Mary's of Michigan, age 86 years. Jack was born in St. John's, Michigan September 29, 1927 the son of the late Merle and Ellen (Kohlsmidt) Bigelow. He married Dorothy Doan in 1957. She predeceased him September 14, 1998. Jack served in the United States Navy. He was a member of the Hemlock Merrill VFW Post No. 7302. He worked for Dow Chemical Company for over 30 years. After retiring from Dow, Jack drove bus for Mitchell Transportation. He loved to travel and this gave him the opportunity to visit many different places. Jack was an avid Tigers and Lions fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking part in the family activities. Jack is survived by his son, Jerry (Mary) Londry; three grandchildren, Jodi Hollis (Kathi), Chad (Lisa) Londry and Jason (Liz) Londry; six great-grandchildren, Emily (Tony) Provenzano, Max Hollis, Haley, Leah, Megan and Erin Londry; one great-great-grandson, Jack Provenzano; five siblings, Don Bigelow, Ron (Dee) Bigelow, Shirley (Mark) Hutfilz, Suzanne (Dick) Dougherty and Doug Kohlschmidt; a sister-in-law, Irma Doan; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Jack was predeceased by four siblings, Eston Bigelow, Robert Bigelow, JoAnn Wilson and Doreen O'Toole and a half-sister, Kristy Brooks. The funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Wednesday October 1, 2014 at W. L. Case & Company, Merrill, MI. Rev. Richard Gossett will officiate with entombment to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens where military services will be conducted under the auspices of Hemlock-Merrill VFW Post No. 7302. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral chapel Tuesday from 2:00 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
