John “Jack” Michael Achtabowski of Ossineke, Michigan, formerly of Saginaw
Beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend entered eternal life on Tuesday, December 1, 2020. He was 74 years old. John Michael Achtabowski was born on February 7, 1946, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Joseph P. and Emma A. (Harstein) Achtabowski. Jack married Joann G. McNally on January 23, 1965; she preceded him in death on May 12, 2013. He was a longtime time employee of General Motors and a proud member and support of the UAW, retiring after many years of loyal and dedicated service. Jack was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting. He loved nothing more than spending time and creating memories with his entire family at his home in Ossineke. Whether it was gathering for holiday celebrations or camping in his yard, Jack commemorated most festivities with bonfires, listing to country music, and his legendary Pabst Blue Ribbon.
Surviving are his two sons and a daughter: Benjamin (Marsha) McNally, Jack (Michelle) Achtabowski, and Donna (Samantha) Achtabowski; partner and friend, Patricia Demrase; two brothers and one sister: Joseph “Sonny” Achtabowski, Richard “Dick” (Mary) Achtabowski, and Sandy Scoles; Also surviving are many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; brothers- and sisters-in-law; extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother William “Bill” Achtabowski.
A private family funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Rev. Ted McCulloch will officiate. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends are welcome to visit at the funeral chapel on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, indoor building capacity is limited to 25 persons, face coverings are required, and social distancing encouraged.
