John W. Kuelske, 75, of Saginaw, Michigan passed away Sunday, October 26, 2014 at his home. John was born in Saginaw, Michigan on November 26, 1938 to the late Catherine Elizabeth (Gross) and Emil August Kuelske. On May 11, 1963, he married Frances A. Kennedy who survives him. After high school, John proudly served with the U.S. Army. Later, he was employed with General Motors as both an electrician and engineer, working at several plants and retiring in 1992 with 31 years of service. He was a long-time member of Christ Ev. Lutheran Church. In recent years, John and Fran greatly enjoyed traveling the country in their RV, wintering in Florida, assisting family with house projects, and camping with their children and grandchildren. Whether watching a color guard competition, baseball game or swim meet, Skyping with his granddaughter in Germany or cheering for the University of Michigan, John loved being active in his grandchildren's lives. In addition to his wife, Frances, he is survived by four children and their spouses, Therese A. and Curt Armstead, Portage, MI; Kevin J. and Claudia Kuelske, Ratingen, Germany; Eric E. and Claudine Kuelske, Waterford, MI; Cheryl K. and George MacDonald, West Bloomfield, MI; five grandchildren, Emily and Ashton Armstead; Sarah and Lauren MacDonald; Amelia Kuelske; three brothers, one sister and their spouses, Richard and Esther Kuelske; Norma and Gary DeLucia; Kenneth and Diane Kuelske; Emil and Lori Kuelske; several nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by a granddaughter, Andrea Armstead. The funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Monday, November 3, 2014, at Christ Ev. Lutheran Church. Pastor Becker will officiate with Military burial in St. Andrew Cemetery under the auspices of American Legion Post 439. Friends may call at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Rd. from 2-8 p.m. Sunday where a memorial service and time of sharing will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call at the Church from 10:00 a.m. Monday until the time of the funeral service.
