John E. Willing of Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the age of 72 years. John was born on December 15, 1952, in Saginaw, Michigan, the son of the late Edward J. and Helen M. (Makl) Willing. He married Barbara K. Thomas on March 1, 1982, celebrating 42 years of marriage; she survives him. John was employed with Gary Shields as a mechanic, then later was self-employed as a mechanic. He had a meticulous eye for detail and pursued perfection in all his work. John was a member of the American Legion Post 22, Knights of Columbus Council #4232, and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 1010. He loved both bowling and Tigers baseball. An avid outdoorsman, John enjoyed spending time boating, snowmobiling, and fishing. He also enjoyed playing Euchre, especially with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Barbara Willing; a sister, Kathy (Phil) McGrandy; nieces and nephews: Chris (Tim) LaBrake, Lori (Randy) Bruce, Dan McGrandy, Deeanna (Fuzz) Navagh, Mike Howey, Erik (Ann) Thomas, Tami (Matt) Mantel, and Jason Howey; several great-nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Jim (Peggy) Thomas; two sisters-in-law: Joyce Howey and Jean (Glenn) Fritz; a son, Andrew Duso; and his best friend, Rick Vieau; John’s beloved cat Snickers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward, and Helen Willing; a sister, Donna McCaffrey; two nieces: Michele Paquette and Carrie Wozniak.
