Joseph LaPorte Jr. Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at his home. Age 92 years The son of the late Beatrice (Bishop) and Joseph LaPorte was born April 7, 1926 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Bernice Riethmeier, June 18, 1949. She passed away August 21, 1979. Joseph served with the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a member of the American Legion Post 22. He was employed by Wickes-U.S. Graphite, retiring with over 20 years of service. He was a former member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and loved watching baseball and especially M.S.U. Football. He enjoyed traveling and camping. Surviving are two sons, four daughters and their spouses, Joseph and Michele LaPorte, Luzerne, MI; James LaPorte, Saginaw, MI; Janine and Richard Burr; Julie and Florentino Sanchez, all of Birch Run, MI; Jacqueline and Terry Buse, Ypsilanti, MI; Jeri LaPorte, Sandusky, MI; eleven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Sally and Richard Horn; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two sisters, Berry Schneirla and Doree LaClair. The funeral service will take place at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2018, at the W.L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Julie Bailey will officiate. Military burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the Chapel from Noon Wednesday until the time of the funeral service.
