Passed away Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Covenant- Cooper. Age 68 years. The son of Beatrice (Vance) and the late Jack Sweeney was born July 28, 1949 in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Kay Lytle, January 25, 1969. She survives him. Joseph was employed by Napolitano Bakery for many years until owning and operating Tonys Own Bakery in St. Charles until retiring. He returned to work for Napolitanos for several years. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson, bowling, fishing, playing euchre and going to the Casino but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family. Surviving besides his wife, Kay and mother, Beatrice, are three sons, Joseph Patrick Sweeney Jr; Michael John Sweeney; Brian Donald Sweeney; three grandchildren, Patrick Randall Sweeney, Jacob William Sweeney and Logan Joseph Sweeney; nine brothers and sisters and their spouses, Susan and John Szott; Martha and Charles Goldsmith; Dennis and Mary Sweeney; Joni and Sam Castillo; John and Janet Sweeney; Patricia Johnson; Daniel and Jean Sweeney; Jim and Mary Lou Sweeney; Maureen and A.J. Morrison; numerous nieces, nephews, Cousins and many good friends. The funeral service will take place at Noon Friday, October 13, 2017, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Bill Bodnar will officiate with burial in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Chapel from 3:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday and 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday and on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
