Our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, January, 9, 2022. Age 82 years.
Josephine was born on August 26, 1939, daughter of the late Rafael and Guadalupe (Rojas) Ruiz, in Sugarland, Texas. She married Louis Flores on April 18, 1976. He predeceased her on December 2, 2020. Josephine was a member of Harvest Assembly of God and retired as a caregiver. She was the owner of Texas Latin Records along with her late husband, Louis. She loved working side by side with Louis and was always supportive of him. Josephine was the owner of the Texas Burrito Hut with her sister Estella Garcia. She was a wonderful cook! Josephine was loving, very loved and known by many as “Mom”. She had a heart of gold, was welcoming and nurturing. She enjoyed spending time with her family, dancing and was always so full of life and energy.
Surviving are her children, Robert (Susan) Galaviz, Jerry (Kelvin Gilley) Galaviz, Lois (David) McKinney, Ralph (Gina) Galaviz, Louisana (Bertha Davila) Flores; grandchildren, Rachel (Alex) Garza, Sean (Megan) Galaviz, Alaina Galaviz, Ryleigh Galaviz, Unique Galaviz, Krystle Lynn (Brian) Morrow, Valarie Rodriguez, Brenda (Juan) Perez, Joana (Richard) Torrez, Jose (Amy) Lopez, Gilberto (Sabrina) Lopez, Cecilia Lopez, Maria (Christian) Cavazos and Edith Ibarra; many great grandchildren; brothers and sister, Ramon Ruiz, Rick Ruiz and Estella Garcia; nieces and nephews, Cynthia Garcia, Joseph L. Garcia, Jr., John Garcia, Raymond Jr., Troy Ruiz, Amy Ruiz, Stacy Ruiz and Ricky Ruiz. She was predeceased by her son, Jose Galaviz, Jr.
Funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Harvest Assembly of God, 625 South 17th Street. Pastor Kim Pacheco will officiate with burial at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit the family at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. It is requested by the family that masks are to be worn while in attendance of service.
