Joyce E. Vescio (Simmons) Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Sunday, April 16, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital. Age 70 years. The daughter of the late Inez Velma (Yonker) and Charles Wilson Simmons was born July 23, 1946 in Bay City, Michigan. She was a graduate of Bay City Handy High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Saginaw Valley State University and her Master of Arts degree from Central Michigan University. She taught in area schools, retiring from the Saginaw Public School system as a Special Education teacher and Coordinator with 26 years of service. She was a Saginaw Valley Master Gardener and a 3rd degree Reiki Master. Joyce loved books, gardening and genealogy, but most of all her family, especially her seven grandchildren. Surviving are two sons, one daughter and their spouses, Jeff and Lana Vescio; Lisa and Jim MacArthur; John and Stephanie Vescio; her grandchildren, Jacquelyn, Justine and Jordan Vescio; Tyler and Eric MacArthur; Jenna and Jacob Vescio; one sister, two brothers and their spouses, Sandra K. and Larry Binder; Charles D. and Vivian Simmons; Dwight and Mary Simmons; many nieces, nephews and her special friend and his wife, Louis and Kay Vescio. A sister, Judy K. Simmons has also predeceased her. The funeral service will take place at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 20, 2017, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Burial will be at Noon in Heavenly Rest Cemetery, Kawkawlin, MI. Friends may visit with family at the funeral home from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday.
