Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2020, surrounded by her family listening to Elvis. Joyce was born on December 9, 1939 to the late Orville and Luella (Erskine) Otter in Saginaw. She was a 1958 graduate of Hemlock High School. Joyce married James Wilsey on May 31, 1960; he survives her. She went on to graduate from Saginaw General School of Nursing in 1962. Joyce retired from Saginaw General Hospital in 1996. She was a member of Swan Valley United Methodist Church and the Red Hat Society. Joyce was very active in her community, leading Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and Church Youth Groups. She enjoyed making ceramic Halloween figurines for about 20 years. People came back every year to collect them from her. Joyce was very family oriented. She loved spending time with her grandkids and never missed a sporting event.
Surviving along with her husband are three children: Shelley (Tom) Green, Craig (Darlene) Wilsey, and Troy (Michelle) Wilsey, 15 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, her brother, David (Sally) Otter, sister, Cheryl (Ken) Zastrow, sister-in-law, Millie Otter, as well as many extended relatives and friends.
Joyce is preceded in death by her brother, Donald Otter, and niece, Lori Otter.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff at Healthsource for taking such great care of Joyce over the last 3 and a half years.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, June 22, 2020 at Swan Valley United Methodist Church, 9265 Geddes Road, Saginaw. Rev. Robert Richards will officiate with burial to follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may visit with the family from 2:00-8:00 pm on Sunday, June 21, 2020 at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel, 201 N. Miller Road, Saginaw. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Alzheimer’s Association or Swan Valley United Methodist Church.
