Joyce Edith Schumacher of Thomas Township
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Saturday, August 28, 2021. She was 83 years old. Joyce Edith Abler was born on June 16, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Maximillian J. and Margaret R. (Wiltse) Abler. She was a proud 1956 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Joyce met the love of her life, Ronald T. Schumacher, while attending a Junior High School talent show; she instantly fell for his beautiful Frank Sinatra voice. Upon his honorable discharge from the U. S Army, they date, fell in love, and were united in marriage on February 15, 1957. Joyce was of the Catholic Faith and attended various churches with her children over the years. She was artistic, creative, and had an eye for detail which led to opening her own custom frame shop, Masterpiece Gallery. As a young lady, Joyce and her best friend and sister, Sally, played and coached women's volleyball. She enjoyed crafting, especially painting ceramics, knitting, and crocheting. Joyce and Ron loved spending time with their family, so every weekend they packed up the popup camper to camp at the Betsie River. For over 50 years, she used her curiosity, inquisitiveness, and detective skills to purse her biggest passion, genealogy and family history. Above all, Joyce treasured and cherished the time spent with her husband, children, and grandchildren. She will forever be remembered for her selflessness to family and friends, as well as her charitableness to many organizations throughout her life.
Surviving are her husband of 64 years, Ronald T. Schumacher of Thomas Township; three daughters and one son: Tammy J. Whitman of Saginaw; Debra A.
