Joyce Kay Coe

Joyce K. Coe of Hemlock, Michigan

Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Monday, July 11, 2022, at Covenant Health Care – Harrison. She was 83 years old. Joyce Kay Sharar was born on June 3, 1939, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late John Wesley and Dorothy Ann (Duby) Sharar. She was a proud 1958 graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation, Joyce attended Delta College where she studied pre-nursing and worked at St. Luke’s Hospital. She was also an in-home care nurse’s aide throughout the Saginaw Community. The role of her lifetime was to be a stay-at-home mother to raise and care for her children. Joyce was a devoted Christian, attended several local churches over the years, and was a longtime member of Saginaw First Assembly of God. She was selfless, often volunteering her time and talents within the churches. As a young lady, Joyce learned to crochet from her mother, Dorothy, creating many beautiful afghans for family and friends. Like her father, John, Joyce was an avid sports fan and enjoyed bowling, golfing, softball, and watching and cheering for her favorite teams: the Detroit Tigers, Lions, University of Michigan, and Michigan State University. She will forever be remembered for her big beautiful heart, her kindness and compassion for all, and for truly living an amazing life.

Surviving are a son and daughter: Robert Humpert and his companion, Nola of AuGres; Debra (Gregory) Findlay of Omer; five grandchildren: Natasha Dewald of Korea, Joshua Dewald and his companion, Irene, of Burt; Madison Findlay of Omer, Robert Humpert III of Saginaw, and Jeffrey Powell of Lapeer; two brothers and two sisters: Jeanine Hutchinson of Saginaw;  James “Jim” (Betty) Sharar of Vassar; Jerald Sharar of Saginaw; Joanne (Dean) Zimmerman of Alanson; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Sharar of Saginaw. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Joyce Ann Humpert; a granddaughter, Alyssa Dewald; a brother, John “Jack” Sharar, a brother-in-law, Gary Hutchinson.

A Funeral Service will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road. Dean Zimmerman will officiate.
