Godina, Juanita Saginaw, Michigan Passed away quietly in her home, Thursday, January 14, 2016. Age 96 years. Juana Alcalan was born October 20, 1919 in Guanajuato, Mexico, immigrating to the United States at age 7 years with her grandparents. She married Ignacio Godina in 1939 in Lockhart Texas. He predeceased her. She was a lifelong member of the Church of God 7th Day. One of the proudest moments of her life was when she received her United States Citizenship. Her hobbies included gardening and rock collecting. She loved camping and being outdoors. Surviving are seven children, Virginia Sanchez, Bridgeport, MI; Lidia Godina, Andrew Godina, Ignacio Godina, Jr; all of Saginaw; Adela Chaprnka; Isabel Ijames and Delfina (Ronald) Skinner all of Midland, MI; 12 grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; 16 great great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband and a daughter, Julia Lopez. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday January 18, 2016 at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Pastor Andrew Fernandez will officiate. Juanita's family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Sunday and from 2:00-4:00 p.m. Monday.
