Judith “Judy” Mendyk of Saginaw, Michigan
Passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 24, 2020 at home, at the age of 79 years. Judy was born on May 27, 1940, in Saginaw, the daughter of the late Daniel and Irene (Jungerheld) Lamb. She married James P. Mendyk on September 1, 1962; he predeceased her on April 25, 2012.
Judy graduated from St Peter and Paul high school and was a long-time parishioner of St Stephens Catholic Church. Judy loved spending time with family and friends playing board games and especially cards. She hosted an annual 4th of July poker party for over 40 years. She was also very passionate about sports. Judy never missed a hockey or college football game, and even watched golf.
Surviving are her children, Jamie (Frank) Lovay, Daniel (Tena) Mendyk, and Jennifer (Bryan) Engel; two grandchildren, Christian and Illianna Mendyk; three step-grandchildren Vincent Gentile and Isabella and Grace Engel; one brother-in-law, Gerald Krys. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Gail Krys and brother Robert (Rita) Lamb
Honoring Judy’s wishes cremation and a private family service has taken place at St. Andrews Cemetery. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit officiated. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or the Saginaw Rescue Mission, as she was a long-time supporter of both.
