Judith "Judy" Smith

On January 4th 2021, Judy Smith, loving wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Sister-in-law, Aunt, Cousin, and friend, passed away peacefully at her home at the age of 80.

Judy was born on April, 10, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan to Albert and Irene (Taylor) Leiner. She married James Stone and raised two sons, Jim and Jack. Later she married Jerry Smith and together they raised the boys along with two daughters, Gerry and Frankie.

Judy was a pediatric nurse at St. Luke’s hospital in Saginaw in the 1960’s. She chose to forgo her career to stay home and take care of her two children, when she was married to the boys Dad, Jim Stone. In the 1990’s she became a home healthcare nurse which she did for many years. Judy had a passion for helping others, especially the elderly community.

Judy cared deeply for her family and friends. She was very vocal about it and never forgot to tell someone she loved them or to give them a hug before they parted ways. Her smile could brighten a room and everyone that knew her felt her love. She never spoke poorly of anyone and made friends wherever she went. She also had a deep love for animals, including her dog Earl and cat Maggie. We know she was welcomed into Heaven by her many pets, especially her dogs Daisy, Shelby, Buddy, Angel and Mugzy.

She was preceded in death by her father Albert and her mother Irene, an infant son James, a daughter Gerry and two siblings, Albert and Penny. Judy leaves her husband of 46 years, Jerry. Her children, Jim Stone (Denise), Jack Stone (Ann Vogler) and Frankie Herkner (Kyle) will all miss their Momma so much. The void she leaves will never be filled but the precious memories they have of her will last forever. Judy also leaves her siblings Alberta Leiner, Arloa Richter (Otto), Brenda Raymond (Ken), Jackie Bricault (Jim), Dorothy Theaker (Bill), Shirley Leiner (George) and Jack Leiner, Grandchildren, Emily Coleman (Erik), Lauren Stone, Carly Leal (Robert) Hannah Davis (Patrick), Jordan and Jake Herkner. Great Grandchildren Dillon Leal and Ava, Maddox, Austin and Luke Coleman and her ‘girls’, Jamie Stoneman, Dawn Mayle, Anna Honaman, Amy Rhode, Danielle Rodriguez, Stephanie Schall, Brandi Scharrer, Trisha Story, Rebecca LaFrance, Danielle Gillis, and Heather Hussein. Also, her special ‘Sister’ friends Norma Goward and the late Peggy Taylor, Karen Greening and Mrs. Evelyn Coleman. The number of special people in her life is too great to list, as she touched so many lives.
