Julia Helena Siler

Siler, Julia Helena Merrill, Michigan Passed away on Monday, December 26, 2016 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre at the age of 99 years. The daughter of the late Robert and Catherine (English) Hickson was born on November 25, 1917 in Peterborough, Ontario. She married Virgil "Pete" Siler on November 25, 1943; he predeceased her on November 8, 2010. She was a lifelong member of St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church including the church's altar society. She also was the past president of Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Center's Resident Council and Red Hat Society. Surviving are two sons and two daughters: Peter (Sue) Siler, Alto, MI., Duane (Alice) Siler, Saginaw, Kay Siler, Merrill, Donna (Dave) Steadman, Houston, TX, 9 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two brothers and one sister: Thomas Hickson, John Hickson, Margaret Booth and her son-in-law Richard Way. The family would like to thank the staff at Hoyt as well as Compassus Hospice for their compassion and care of Julia. Funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 29, 2016 at St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 419 S. Midland, Merrill. Fr. Dennis Kucharczyk will officiate with burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday at the W. L. Case and Company Funeral Chapel in Merrill from 3:00-8:00 p.m. where a vigil service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also visit with the family on Thursday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy.
