Julia Olga (Hoeppner) Kissane of Hemlock, Michigan
Julia passed away peacefully with her son and her daughter at her side on Monday, September 12, 2022 at Beaumont Hospital in Trenton; she was 80-years-old. Julia Olga Hoeppner was born on March 29, 1942 in Saginaw Michigan to the late Herbert H. and Adelia (Miller) Hoeppner.
Julia was a 1959 proud graduate of Hemlock High School, where she first met her future husband, Patrick James Kissane. Julia and Patrick were reunited when he returned from the U.S. Army and were married on April 30, 1966. Julia and Pat greatly enjoyed travelling over the course their marriage ranging from camping trips throughout all of Michigan to adventures in Hawaii, Aruba, and other fun destinations.
Julia was a long-time member of St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hemlock. She enjoyed being a member of the church choir where she made several life-long friends. Her main joy in life was being a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. Her kind and nurturing presence was deeply felt by all of her grandchildren as she spent as much time with them as she could. She was a dedicated volunteer over the course of her life as a girl scout leader, classroom volunteer at the public schools, and within her community at St. Mary’s church.
Julia’s personal interest include baking desserts, traveling, occupying her time with word finds, reading, gardening, sewing, and especially loved a good laugh with others while watching “Everyone Loves Raymond.” Julia always treasured her animal companions, especially her late dog Morgan, whom she loved to sit outside with no matter what the season was to play ball with. She will be forever remembered for her kind and loving spirit, her witty sense of humor, for being ready to help anyone in need, and for truly living an amazing life filled with beautiful memories and stories.
Surviving are a son and daughter, Christopher James (Amy) Kissane of Saline; Victoria Anne (Kevin) Sargent of Trenton; six grandchildren: Katheren Kissane, Colleen (Justin) Dietrich, Brian Kissane, Brandon Kissane, Ethan Sargent, and Lauryn Sargent; three great-grandchildren: Amanda, Brianna, and Caylee; a sister, Karen (Ron) Breternitz. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Kissane; son, David Charles Kissane; brother, Duane Hoeppner; and her guardian angel and honorary sister, Jean Michael.
A funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 am on Monday, September 19, 2022, at St. John XXIII Parish, St. Mary Catholic Church, 151 Saint Mary’s Drive, Hemlock. Rev. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp S.J. will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the W. L. Case & Company, 201 N. Miller Road on Sunday from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a parish vigil taking place at 7:00 pm. Julia will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 am until the time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. John XXIII Parish or the City Rescue Mission of Saginaw.
