Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 surrounded by her family, much love and laughter, courtesy of her funniest (and youngest) child. We are forever grateful that God gave her to us and our darkest moments will always be made brighter by our many memories of her.
The daughter of the late Patrick Henry Jr. and Maxine Catherine (Schramkoski) Willett, Julie was born on April 11, 1945. Julie graduated from Arthur Hill High School with the class of 1964. She married Donald W. Vlassis on June 27, 1964, enjoying almost 57 years of marriage. Julie dedicated her life to her family and thoroughly enjoyed the chaos of raising five children. Nothing seemed to rattle her as she took great joy in maintaining a beautiful home while her children continuously attempted to dismantle everything behind her. Sundays and holidays were momentous occasions, in which Julie took great pride in single handedly preparing ultimate feasts for her family to enjoy. One of her favorite things was having her family all together, and her backyard will forever ring with the laughter and camaraderie of the many family gatherings that happened on the deck. Life will not be the same without her.
Julie was an amazing wife to Donald; the best mother of three sons, two daughters and their spouses: Nick and Corina Vlassis, Chris and Shannon Vlassis, Tom and Michelle Vlassis, Jodi and Kevin Scorsone, Jill and Tim Reynolds. She was also the most nurturing and caring grandmother to fifteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition, Julie also leaves behind a sister, Patricia (Larry) Wahl, sister- and brother- in laws Betty Galbraith, Bill Vlassis, Carm Vlassis; many nieces, nephews and extended family. Julie will forever be remembered for her smiles, welcoming spirit, unending strength and amazing capacity to love.
Per Julie’s wishes, cremation has taken place and no formal services are currently planned. As a remembrance, we ask that you please plant a flower in the spring and enjoy when it blooms. She loved all her flowers and is now enjoying all the heavenly gardens. Cancer sucks. We will miss her forever.
