Passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Thursday, February 18, 2021, at the age of 90 years.
June was born to the late Lewis and Martha (Murphy) Sherman on June 23, 1930, in Merrill. June graduated valedictorian from Sacred Heart High School. She worked as the popcorn girl for the Merrill Movie Theater and later as a secretary for Equitable. June married Keith Honaman on September 19, 1953; he predeceased her on November 8, 2009. She was a life-long member of St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and enjoyed crocheting, embroidery, reading, cheering on the Detroit Tigers and traveling, especially with her husband to Army reunions. June cherished time spent with family and friends.
Surviving are her children: Sharon Honaman, Diane (Arnold) Snyder, Janet McAdams, Terry (Leslie) Honaman, Dan Honaman, Karen (Gregory) Good, grandchildren: Jason Snyder, Michelle Horton, Rhonda Snyder, Janelle Moe, Derek Good, Karli Good, Kelly Honaman, 11 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, her brother David (Marsha) Sherman, two sisters-in-law: Ruth Honaman, and Ann Sherman, her brother-in-law Jim Luneack and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son-in-law Michael McAdams, her siblings: Lewis Howard (Mary Irene) Sherman, Jacqueline (Martin) May, Duane (Gladys) Sherman, Mary Ann Luneack, Robert James Sherman, her siblings-in-law: Lenora (Howard) Sells, Arland (Doris) Honaman, Gerald Honaman, and Lyle (Donna) Honaman and her father-in-law and mother-in-law Fred and Carrie Honaman.
Funeral liturgy will take place at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at St. John XXIII Parish, Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Merrill. Fr. Michael F. Steltenkamp, S.J. will officiate with burial at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral liturgy. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John XXIII Parish or Jonesfield-Lakefield Fire Department. In accordance with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services ordinance, indoor capacity is limited, face coverings are required, and social distancing encouraged. We appreciate everyone’s efforts to reduce the spread of covid-19 in our community.
