June M. Gitzen Saginaw, Michigan Passed away Wednesday, October 23, 2013. Age 82 years. The daughter of the late Peter and Katherine (Ott) Krum was born April 1, 1931, in Saginaw, Michigan. She was a graduate of Saginaw High School, Class of 1949. June married John Grey Gitzen, January 26, 1952. He survives her. Besides her children, she considered her greatest accomplishment the 23 years and 15, 500 hours she spent at St Luke's/Covenant as a volunteer in the gift shop. She was affiliated with many groups during her lifetime including the following: The Saginaw County Historical Society, The Children's Zoo at Celebration Square, and The Temple Theater in Saginaw, The Royal Oak Study Club, The Royal Oak Woman's Club, The Girl Scouts, Royal Oak Dondero and Saginaw Douglas MacArthur Band Boosters. She received The Distinguished Service Award from the Michigan Congress of Parents and Teachers. Surviving besides her husband, Grey are their children: Marbey A Huey, Indianapolis; Beth M Janis (James), Avon Lake, Ohio; John L Gitzen II; Jennifer G Johnson (Richard), Grandville, MI; Nine Grandchildren: H. Gregg Huey IV, John L Huey, Megan B Hughey(Marshall), Samuel J Janis, Jennifer A Janis, Chase A Gitzen, Jonica L Gitzen, Evan S Johnson, Ryan D Johnson. She was predeceased by her parents, a stepfather and infant daughter. The family would like to thank her close friend Janet Hahn for all of her support and knowledge, the nurses and staff of the Neuro/Trauma ICU and 4 North at Covenant Cooper; and the staff at Cartwright Care Center. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. Rev. Kathleen Basner will officiate with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at the Chapel from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Monday.
