Karen K. Hegenauer

Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend passed away on March 22, 2025, at Covenant HealthCare at the age of 80 years. Karen was born on February 1, 1945, in Kalamazoo, MI, to the late Benjamin and Irene (Shinn) Kaiser. She graduated from Niles High School, class of 1963. Karen went on to study at Michigan State University for two years. While there she met her husband, Gary Hegenauer. After school she worked as a flight attendant for three and a half years for United Airlines, until she was married on October 12, 1968. Karen was very crafty. She enjoyed sewing and making beautiful beaded purses. Karen was an avid MSU fan and she enjoyed waterskiing, downhill skiing, golfing, and above all, spending time with family. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and active in the P.E.O. women's education group.

Karen is survived by her husband, Gary Hegenauer; two sons: Grant (Jaimi) Hegenauer of Linden, and Kent (Natalie) Hegenauer of Wichita, KS; two grandchildren: Jillian and Aiden Hegenauer of Linden; sister, Gail Knott of Lima, OH; brothers- and sisters-in-law: Kay (Steve) List; Lyn (Dennis) Weirauch; and Cindy (Randy) Hegenauer of Frankenmuth; and a special uncle, Ray Hecht of Frankenmuth.

Along with her parents, Karen was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Ted Knott.

Honoring Karen's wishes cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4432 Mackinaw Rd, Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Christina Schultz will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family from 3:30 pm - 7:00 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at W. L. Case and Company Funeral Directors, 4480 Mackinaw Road, Saginaw, MI 48603, as well as at the church Wednesday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service.
