Katherine Louise Kolb

Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 3, 2025 at the age of 62 years. Katherine was born on November 18, 1962 to the late Sharon (Duby) and Jerry McLaren Sr. She grew up in Hemlock, graduating in 1981 from Hemlock High School. Katherine went on to study at the police academy and worked for the Saginaw County Sheriff's Department for over 20 years.

After retiring from the sheriff's department, Katherine enjoyed watching her grandchildren, knitting and crocheting. She even could be found on the water kayaking, spending time with a lifelong family friend, Sandy Sherbino-Boyer. Katherine sure did pass a lot of her extra down time watching the "ID" crime channel. She loved to vacation with her family in tropical locations, swimming with dolphins, ziplining through the jungle and eating delicious cultural cuisine.

Katherine is survived by her children: Kristi (Andrew) Hewitt, Tabitha (Justin) Weeks, Joshua Batts, Ashley Kolb, and Dominic Batts; grandchildren: Leah Hewitt, Isla Hewitt, Moriah Hewitt, Hunter Weeks, Tyler Brink, Abbigayle Weeks, Nickolas Lamont, and Jackson McKinney; great grandchild: Gianna Johnson.

Katherine was preceded in death by a son Joe "Joey" Batts Jr., her parents Jerry and Sharon McLaren, brother Jeffrey McLaren and sister Barbara McLaren.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, March 14, 2025, at W.L. Case & Company Funeral Directors, 201 N. Miller Rd, Saginaw MI. Rev. Robert Richards will officiate with burial to follow at Richland Township Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral chapel on Thursday, March 13, 2025, from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm, as well as Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service.
