Katheryn Marie Himmelspach, age 90, August 6, 2017, due to complications from a severe stroke, in Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton, Florida. Kathy was born July 17, 1927 in Jamestown, IL, to Arthur Henry Hadley & Milda Bertha (Foehner) Siever. Kathy graduated from Pocahontas High School in 1945, became an RN from St. John's College of Nursing, Springfield, IL, in 1949 and worked as a nurse in Ann Arbor, and Saginaw, MI for ten years, becoming the head pediatric nurse at St. Marys of Michigan Hospital in Saginaw. Katheryn married John Andrew Himmelspach February 16, 1952, who survives, as do children Patricia Lynn URen (Nicholas), John Andrew Himmelspach, Karen Jane Himmelspach (late Mark Langlois), and Marilyn Joy Himmelspach, who stayed with her mom till the end. In addition to raising a family, Kathy had a wonderful green thumb for perennial gardening (which she graciously passed to her children), enjoyed China painting and quilting for many years. Volunteering with Meals on Wheels, disabled children, each church as the family moved (cookbooks, bazaars, resale shops) kept her busy as did cruises and trips with John and other family members to Europe, Australia, Alaska and elder hosteling across the lower 48. Mom enjoyed golf & bowling, was an avid reader and loved small sailboating on Cedar Lake. She was a Charter member Christ Church, Presbyterian, of Longboat Key, FL. In addition to her husband & children she is survived by grandsons William Arthur URen and John Andrew (JJ) Himmelspach III, sister Grace (Loren) Windhorst, brother Robert (late Mary Lin) and many dear cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Pearl (Milton) Weiss, brothers Edgar Charles Siever and Clarence Roger Siever. The funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 12, 2017, at the W. L. Case and Co. Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Rd. with burial in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. Friend may call at the Chapel from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
