Kathleen Doris Ault Freeland, Michigan
Kathleen Doris Ault passed away January 27, 2017 one day after her 97th birthday. Kathleen was born January 26, 1920, to the late Richard and Charlotte (O'Leary) Hayward on her parents' farm in Merritt Township, Bay County, Michigan. A self-reliant young woman who always preferred to be called Kay, she established herself in Saginaw where she met and married John Thomas Ault in 1942. He predeceased her in 2004. They had three children: Robert J. (Suzanne Schuette) Ault, Jacqueline K. (Frank) Cergnul, and Connie J. (James) Kinnaman. In addition to her children, Kay is survived by nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Kay was residing at Barton Woods, Freeland, at the time of her death. Now she is residing in a new place, safe in the arms of Jesus who was a comfort to her in her later years. There is also a good chance she is dancing the spirited Highland Fling of her younger years. She loved camping at the Whitney Park on Lake Huron with Jack and her kids, combing the beach for stones and shells which she fashioned into goofy figurines that made her laugh. She decorated her letters with dozens of stamps and stickers, always finding something new to amuse herself and her loved ones. Once, on a dare, she did a headstand on her 72nd birthday.
At her request cremation has taken place and interment will be at Roselawn Mausoleum with her husband Jack. Kay's family wishes to extend a warm and special thank you to Barton Woods and to Amy and Tonie from Compassus Hospice for their care of Mom. Kay, Mom, Gam we miss you.
