Kathleen Ann Geiersbach (Young)

Passed away peacefully Wednesday, February 21, 2024, with her family at her side; she was 85 years old. Kathleen was born on October 24, 1938, in Saginaw, Michigan, the daughter of the late Chester and Marion (Casey) Young. She married the love of her life Arnold Geiersbach on November 14, 1959.  

Kathleen was a feisty, kind, caring, and loving person. She always made people feel welcomed, important, and worth listening to. She was ready to laugh and quick with her wit. She kept in touch with family and friends far and wide and was a hub for the extended family. She enjoyed going to Florida and hated snakes. One of her favorite things was taking her grandkids on vacations. She spent time at home watching tv with Arnie and going to church on many a Sunday at noon.

She taught religious education at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church for 40 years. She was also on the parish council. She was an original member of the Michigan Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Kathleen is survived by her husband Arnold; her daughter Ann Marie (Terry) Kalkman; her grandchildren Kyle (Cassie) Kalkman, Tobin (Katie) Kalkman, Piper (Maurice) Williams; great-grandson Jack Williams; and brother Robert (Jeanne) Young; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her sons Greg and Glen Geiersbach.

A funeral liturgy for Kathleen will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, February 24^th, 2024, at St. Dominic Parish, St. Stephen Catholic Church 1310 Malzahn St. Saginaw, MI 48602, with Rev. Richard John presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00am until the time of service. A private burial will be held at St. Andrew Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
